I love to make cards and Valentine's Day being just around the corner is a perfect reason to make a new one! This mini heart garland card looks so cute and there are only a few supplies needed to make it yourself.
I've teamed up with a great group of crafty bloggers in a paper valentine challenge for the month. You can see all of their cute projects at the bottom of this post. For now, let's get started on the tutorial for this homemade Valentine card.
Gel Pens (I like these American Craft ones) - optionalI've teamed up with a great group of crafty bloggers in a paper valentine challenge for the month. You can see all of their cute projects at the bottom of this post. For now, let's get started on the tutorial for this homemade Valentine card.
Mini Heart Garland Valentine Card
Supplies Needed to Make Card
Cardstock or blank cards
Paper Trimmer
Paper Trimmer
Baker's Twine (I buy mine at Dollar Tree)
Assorted Valentine Papers (I used 2)
Valentine Stamp (similar to mine here)
Stamp Pad (Mine was Teresa Collins Passion Pink)
Glue Dots
Heart Punch or Cutting Machine
Directions to Make Valentine Card with Heart Banner
Cut your cardstock in half the wide way, so you have a piece 5.5" x 8.5". Fold the piece of cardstock in half so the crease is at the top of the card - measuring 5.5" wide and 4.25" tall.
Repeat on the other side, making sure not to pull the bakers twine too tightly.
Cut heart shapes out of your decorative paper. The hearts should be 1" or 1.25". I used my Cricut cutting machine to make the hearts for the card and a few smaller ones for confetti. I love having my Cricut for these types of projects. It only took two minutes to design and then just one minute to cut both papers into the hearts I wanted.
Use a few Glue Dots on the back of your paper hearts, then add them on top of the bakers twine to make the garland.
NOTE: When working with Glue Dots, don't take the dots off of the waxy paper. Instead press the back of your paper hearts to the glue dots and lightly pull back the waxy paper and the dots will stick to the paper. If you try to take the dots off and use your fingers, you will squish them and get them stuck to your fingers and be frustrated (I speak from experience).
Use your stamp to add your Valentine message to the front of your card. For a little extra sparkle, use a glitter gel pen and write over the stamped message.
There you go! A sweet Valentine card that is quick to make and super cute. It only takes about 10 minutes to make. Add your message to your sweetheart and you will be done.
The start of the month means another fun #CCBG craft challenge is here! This month our theme for creating a new project was Paper Valentine. We wanted to use paper in different ways to create a Valentine project to share with you!

ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Janet! I was really excited when I saw the pink twine in a new package. It's with a whole bunch of pastel ones, which will be perfect for some Spring projects.
DeleteThis is very cute and looks elegant!! I however couldn't cut myself out of a paper bag so don't think my attempt will look as good!!!
