25+ Fun Things To Do This Fall

Our family sat down together to talk about the fun activities we want to do this fall.  With school starting, after school classes, preparing meals, work, and day-to-day life happening; sometimes I forget to write down the fall activities and the season passes by with just a few fun outings.  This year I decided to make a list of some fun ideas, and thought that I would share it with you.

25+ fun things to do this fall

I will share my list with you, then you can print your own copy of my list from the file at the end of this post.

  1. Visit a pumpkin patch
  2. Jump in a leaf pile
  3. Pick apples
  4. Go to a football game
  5. Star gazing.  Since it gets dark earlier, kids can learn the different constellations too.
  6. Make homemade soup
  7. Visit a corn maze
  8. Crunch through leaves.  I loved walking home from school and shuffling through the crunchy leaves.
  9. Attend a fall festival
  10. Make popcorn balls.  My grandma used to make them every year and they were so tasty.
  11. Fall kids craft.  Apple Crafts for Kids and fall kids crafts.
  12. Backyard fire pit.  Roast hot dogs, marshmallows, or make foil dinners.
  13. Decorate for fall
  14. Drink apple cider. Hot or cold, it's a nice fall treat.
  15. Carve a pumpkin
  16. Thanksgiving crafts. You could plan Kids Thanksgiving Crafts or crafty decor for your table.
  17. Go on a hayride
  18. Collect items for a local food bank
  19. Try a new pumpkin recipe.  This year I wan to try these cookies, these waffles, or these rice krispie treats, or these baked donuts
  20. Thankful Tree.  You can find directions here.
  21. Homemade applesauce
  22. Roast pumpkin seeds.  See this recipe.
  23. Fall camping trip
  24. Plant bulbs for Spring blossoms.  See here for a list of bulbs.
  25. Drive to see the leaves change.

So that is my list for fun things to do this fall.  I prepared a free printable that you can download.  The file I saved is a PDF.  If you would like the file as an image, please leave your email in the comments or message me.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Heather! I have to admit that I haven't had popcorn balls for almost 25 years. Thinking about this list made me remember them, and realized that my kids have never had the sugary goodness of them.

  3. Great list! I really am hoping to plant spring bulbs this year! We love jumping in leaves. We jump in them so much there is nothing left after them by the time we finally clean them up. Thanks for sharing my apple crafts!

    1. Thanks Kim! I was happy to share your apple crafts, I want to try that button one when I get the time. =) I plan on planting bulbs every year, but forget about it until the ground is frozen. Let's encourage each other. =)

  4. What a great list! That is one fun thing about it getting darker earlier is that kids don't have to stay up so late to see the stars. Love it!

    1. I know Missy! My youngest daughter has a small telescope and asked all summer to stay up late enough to see the stars, but she would always fall asleep instead. =)

    1. Thank you Natalie! When I was writing this, I was thinking that fall is my favorite time of year, but then I thought of the beautiful flowers in Spring, and the snowflakes falling in Winter, and the beach during the Summer. It is too hard for me to choose. =)

  7. What a great list! Now that my little guy is two, it will be fun to experience a lot of these things with him. Last year he wasn't quite old enough, now he loves to do just about everything! He is going to love jumping in piles of leaves!

    1. I hope you have fun with your little guy! I didn't list it, but we like to go on a nature walk too. We collect leaves, rocks and sticks, then when we get home we glue them on paper to make a collage.
